Detoured by Love by Michelle Lynn
This is my first book by Michelle Lynn and it won't be my last. Admittedly, it did take me a bit to get hooked (I am stubborn), but once I did, I had to finish and not let anything
disturb me. It touched me in ways I wasn't expecting. Detoured by Love gave me quite the surprise by making me reflect on memories. I thoroughly enjoyed Carly and Bryant. Their chemistry was off the charts sizzling.
Bryant's obsession with Carly was fun to watch (you know what I mean). His alpha maleness with just enough sensitivity was just perfect for me. One thing I didn't care for was that he gave up without a fight (Yes, I know what happens in the end, but I mean before that). I needed this alpha male to do something!
As for Carly, I can't fault her, or only a little. I have been in a similar situation and reacted the same way, by pushing the one that wanted to love me through it away. This book really brought personal memories to the surface, from each scare and worry to each heartbreaking moment. My chest hurt so much by the time I was three-fourths of the way through this book. In my opinion, Carly’s decision wasn't purely selfless. I believe that it was the perfect time for her to be selfish. She needed to focus on what was ultimately the most important thing. Herself.
I enjoyed this book so much. Once I was hooked, there was no stopping me from finishing. Michelle, if you ever read this, thank you. Only a handful of authors have brought me to tears with their work. You made that list. I look forward to more from you!
