Online friendships...take a leap of faith or run?
How often do we meet people online and find out they are missing pieces of your heart? One of my most wonderful friends, Victoria, has said, “once in a while someone comes into your life and fills a void you didn’t even realize was there and makes you strive to be a better person.” How many of these friends have you made online? Have you had a chance to meet them in person?
All too often, we shun people we don’t know because, well, we don’t know them. How many times have you taken a chance and discovered someone amazing? I’ve done it several times. I think that making friends online allows us to learn people’s hearts and minds, and even souls before we see a real photo. This allows us to get to know people without appearances getting in the way. I know that this isn’t a new concept, but I wanted to share my opinion…and my gratitude.
I am lucky. I am fortunate. I am blessed. This past year, I have made many friends online that I would never have met otherwise and they hold the largest parts of my heart, outside of my familia. They are my gifts, my blessings, my rewards, my bright lights, my heart-lifts, my favors. If it wasn’t for Facebook and the internet, I wouldn’t have these examples of pure love and light and joy. They are my treasures. My world would be incredibly dark without them.
While there are many, many incidents where people are just malicious and use social media to brandish their versions of evil, sometimes you have to do a little due diligence. Sometimes, you must have faith. That’s what I did. This past year has been the most amazing, astonishing, incredible, and entertaining. I have met and made many new friends. I met my soul sister. I have angel sisters. I have an angel brother. I found new favorite authors who have become priceless friends.
Sometimes, we take that leap of faith and find marvelous people like I did. If you’re missing joy from your life, take the leap! I found limitless love and joy, and this was before I met some of them in person. They have also taught me things about myself that I didn't know. They've made me a better person and I will always be grateful to and for them for that.
Until laters beautifuls…be safe and be kind to one another.
