Post-operative steroid injection day 2

I woke up early, with pain screaming down my left side.  I was hating this procedure with every ounce of my being.  I had to beg my mother for ibuprofen.  I was going to cook myself breakfast, but had to settle for a sandwich because I couldn’t stand to move around that much.

I gave in and sent my primary care provider a message on MyChart to beg her for a refill of my pain medication.  The pain was excruciating, and I needed some relief.  An hour after I received her reply, I called my pharmacy to verify that they received the prescription.  When I got some pushback, I immediately emailed my doctor.  By 5pm, I finally received a reply that it had been taken care of and I was able to go and pick up my prescription.

Let me say that I appreciate my doctor.  She understands that I wouldn’t beg for anything unless I had to.  Once I was able to take my meds, I was able to move without pain.  The last nurse at the surgery center told me that it would take a few days for I will be able to notice a difference.  I look forward to the steroid injection taking effect and then I won’t have to rely on pain meds to be able to move.  My hopes are high that this procedure will work, and I won’t need to use my canes or walker, that I’ll be able to walk pain-free, that I can do all the normal things I used to be able to do.  I’m immensely independent and this has been holding me back for too long.

Next…pain management center follow-up appointment.
