Books by Lorelei James
Cowboy Take Me Away (Rough Riders Book 16) by Lorelei James a beautiful and heart-wrenching addition to the Rough Riders series!
A love story that spans fifty years…
The moment Carson McKay saw the sexy blonde at the dance hall he wanted to throw her over his saddle and gallop hell-for-leather to the closest church. Given his reputation as a lover and a fighter—not necessarily in that order—it wasn’t surprising she gave him the cold shoulder. But he definitely wasn’t expecting the right hook when he goes to steal a kiss.
Carolyn West might look sweet and innocent, but she’s no fool. The good-looking cowboy with the heart-stopping smile didn’t really want to marry her; he just wanted to take her for a test ride. But when he kisses her a second time, she can’t fight her burning attraction to him…until she learns he’s one of the McKay cowboys she’s been warned about.
Carson doesn’t care about the long-standing feud between their families—he knows Carolyn is meant to be his. And the more intimate they become, the more Carolyn sees the real man behind the reputation—a man who wants the same forever connection she does…a man who will stay by her side and give her the love of a lifetime.
Just when I thought I couldn’t love the McKay’s more, Lorelei James proves me wrong. Admittedly, I wasn’t sure if I’d be into a novel about an older couple. This one novel brought me to tears repeatedly. I want to find a man that adores and needs me like Carson does Caro. This is a story that can make a cynical and jaded person like me believe in true love and never doubt its power.
Carson’s fixation on Caro made me laugh at first. Then it made me love him.
Caro’s dedication to Carson made me wish I was as strong a woman as she was.
My chest ached. My heart bled. My eyes released tears in torrents. I absolutely LOVED Cowboy Take Me Away. Thank you Ms. James for reminding me how beautiful and hot true love can be.

Redneck Romeo (Rough Riders 15) by Lorelei James is HOT and funny, and still provides that pang that I’ve come to enjoy from her. It’s such a great book!
The last McKay standing is knocked to his knees…
Three years ago, Dalton McKay looked across the altar and saw the woman he knew he’d love for the rest of his life…only it wasn’t his bride-to-be. So he took the McKays’ love-’em-and-leave-’em reputation to new heights, fleeing the ceremony and Wyoming. Now a family crisis has brought Dalton back to Sundance, giving him an opportunity to demonstrate to everyone—especially the woman he thought he lost—that he’s a changed man.
Aurora “Rory” Wetzler has fallen for cowboy hottie Dalton’s smooth-talkin’ ways far too often. He claims he can convince her that he’s playing for keeps this time. Fine. She’ll call that bluff. She can’t ignore their intense chemistry or resist smokin’ hot sex, but she knows she’ll never gamble her heart again.
Dalton has plenty of fences to mend with the McKays, but his biggest fear is that Rory doesn’t believe they have a future. He’ll have to pull out all the stops to prove to her that he can be her only Romeo for a lifetime.
Warning: Contains a sexy cowboy who tames his sassy lady love with his romantic and his kinky side.
Redneck Romeo gave me what I needed. A deeper view into what happened between Dalton and Rory. I had hoped that they would find their HEA like the rest of the McKays, and I knew that Lorelei James would deliver.
Based on the previous books, I felt that Dalton’s would be a good one. He’s like the baby that everyone wants to see grow up. Before reading this book, I believed that he had a long way to go in regards to maturity. And in this one? Oh boy, did he mature with that sweet heart of his. Granted, the opening of the book made me question that for a minute. He really made up for it by the end!
Rory…I already liked her based off what I learned of her in a previous book. I couldn’t wait to read her story! She proved that when there’s no trust, things can’t work. I enjoyed watching her learn to trust her man and her heart.
Redneck Romeo is HOT and funny, and still provides that pang that I’ve come to enjoy from Lorelei James. By the end, I loved Dalton and Rory! It’s such a great book!

Short Rides (Rough Riders 14.5) is a wonderful compilation of “after HEA” glimpses of three of my favorite Rough Rider stories.
Short Rides is an anthology compilation of two novellas and one short story in the Rough Riders world. These are NOT meant to be read as standalone stories, but are a peek into favorite character's lives after the happily ever after...
The stories included in the Short Rides anthology are:
King of Hearts* -- Deputy Cam McKay deals with a murder/suicide case on Valentine's Day.
Rough Road -- Chassie, Trevor and Edgard Glanzer spend a romantic weekend away from the ranch and kids celebrating their anniversary...only to return home to face their biggest challenge yet.
All Knocked Up -- Keely and Jack Donohue are having a baby. Given Keely's raging pregnancy hormones, will Jack need to wear a cup in the delivery room?
*previously published in the Guns and Roses anthology in 2012
King of Hearts…I felt so bad for Cam. What a thing to have to see! Yes, he’s a veteran. Yes, he’s a deputy. Regardless of their profession, no one should have to see such horror! What I loved about this part of the book? Domini’s understanding and the purest of love pouring from their family. The very last scene had me blinking away the tears.
Rough Road…Wowzers. Chassie, Trevor, and Edgard are ALWAYS so freaking hot. It’s not because it’s a three-way relationship. It’s because of the love, understanding, and adoration that each one has for the others as individuals. And the way they parent their kids is so beautiful. It’s not one is Daddy and the other is Uncle. They’re both their fathers and it just melts me. But I admit that the first question, the first line had my temper rising. I HATE that word. It’s so ignorant. Then for it to be repeated by adults who should know better? UGH. I was so angry at those parts! However, the ending had me in tears. Gotta love it when love, romantic or familial, takes over.
All Knocked Up…had me grinning and laughing. Well until the last part of it where my heart dropped and that feeling of panic took over. I always enjoy the relationship between Keely and Jack. Their family just made me want to snuggle all of them! I love Keely’s fire so much. Jack’s adoration of his wife? That’s what so many of search for.
Lorelei James really knows how to yank those emotions right out. Whew!

Gone Country (Rough Riders Book 14) is a tale of two seemingly very different people who find their perfect complements and their daughters who remind them of what love is truly capable of.
She's a little bit country, and he's...not. Rough Riders, Book 14. Arizona businessman and long-lost McKay love child Gavin Daniels has been awarded sole custody of his teenage daughter Sierra for one year. In order to steer Sierra back on track after a brush with the law, he pulls up stakes and heads to Wyoming, looking for support from his ranching family - even if he isn't sure where they fit in the McKay dynamic. He's prepared for every contingency with the move: the less-than-enthusiastic response from his daughter, learning to run his corporation remotely, but he's thrown for a loop when his new housemate, Rielle, is a whole lot sexier, funnier and sassier than he remembered.
Rielle Wetzler has finally overcome the stigma of having hippie parents and being a young single mother. In the two years since she sold her ailing B&B to Gavin Daniels, she's become financially stable running the homespun businesses she loves. But now Gavin is in Sundance to claim the house that's rightfully his. Although Rielle knew this day would come, she isn't prepared to leave the home she built for herself and her now-grown daughter. And to further complicate matters, her long-dormant libido is definitely not ready to live with this newly buff Gavin - who isn't a cowboy, but has the take-charge attitude to prove he's all McKay. Sharing a roof, their troubles and their triumphs is too much temptation, and before long, Gavin and Rielle are sharing a bed. But sharing their hearts and lives forever? That's a whole 'nother ball of wax.
Warning: Contains a feisty, independent heroine who doesn't need a man to take care of her needs outside the bedroom and a sweet, sexy and bossy hero who's up to the challenge of proving her wrong
Gone Country…is a story I wasn’t sure I’d really like. I should have known that Lorelei James would remind me what happens when I open my mind to possibilities. I mean, Gavin seemed very standoffish and distant when I read about him in the previous books, and Rielle seemed to be a little more rough around the edges than I’d liked. Yeah, I was wrong. I loved them both.
Gavin…is a man thrust into an awkward situation by his dying adoptive mother. He discovered that he’s part of this wild McKay family and in Gone Country, he’s gotten to know them better. I absolutely loved seeing how close he became to his brothers, his cousins, even his parents. He showed me that he isn’t just a businessman forced by circumstances with his teenage daughter to make a huge, life-changing decision. He showed me his vulnerability, his power, his joy, his pain, and his love.
Rielle…is a woman thrust into an awkward situation herself, when her landlord decides to move into his own house. The one she lives in. Before Gone Country, I thought she was just this rough, tough, and ornery cowgirl/rancher. I wasn’t totally wrong, but she is so much more than that. I loved watching her discover a side of herself that she never explored, grow and nurture a love she had no idea she needed, and watch her wisdom change the lives of two people she never expected to love. I LOVED her.
Gone Country is a tale of heartbreak, love, pain, joy, discovery, angst, and serious hotness. I’m not often brought to tears, but I’ll admit there were a few moments where I felt those pesky tears fill my eyes and fall down my cheeks. This will definitely be part of my re-read go-tos.

Kissin’ Tell (Rough Riders Book 13) is a tale of two wildly misunderstood people who find not only understanding in each other, but a love that will survive anything, including their own insecurities.
Once she led him around by a string. Now he's the one holding the reins.
Georgia Hotchkiss swore wild horses couldn’t drag her back to Sundance, Wyoming. So it’s ironic she’s forced to take a rodeo PR job in her former hometown—right before her ten-year class reunion. The only thing worse than facing her cheating ex-husband? Showing up to the reunion without a date.
Tell McKay had it so bad for Georgia “Hot Lips” Hotchkiss during high school that he let her run roughshod over him. But he’s no longer that easily manipulated boy—these days he’s earned a reputation with the ladies that lives up to the McKay last name. He agrees to escort her to the reunion—with one stipulation. Georgia has to prove she’s left behind the goody-goody cheerleader of the past—by sharing his bed.
Their sexual chemistry burns so bright, they barely notice that the reunion has come and gone, and now they’re tangled up in another dreaded “R” word—relationship. But if Tell wants to get the girl this time around, he’ll have to come up with a whole new set of knots to tie up her heartstrings.
Kissin’ Tell…gotta love the senses of humor that a lot of authors have, especially Lorelei James. I really liked this book. Since I started the series, I’ve had a natural curiosity about the different McKay family members. Like mine, they are numerous. Little was mentioned about Tell in the previous books, so I looked forward to this one. I wanted his story!
Tell…I felt his pain. Always the one overlooked, the one always used, the one always forgotten unless something was needed. I felt a serious kinship with him and sympathized with a lot of the feelings he buried deep. Underneath it all was a man who wanted to be first for someone. Not the last resort or the quick pick.
Georgia…how many women carried the misunderstood feeling from high school into her late twenties like she did? Considering her history, it’s understandable. There were too many misconceptions and misunderstandings. The thing was, she let them happen, or let them keep growing. There were points that she irritated me because she seemed to lack spine. However, when she finally stood up for herself, I couldn’t have been more proud of her.
I admit that they irritated me. They both let misconceptions stand in their way. When they fought then made up for the second time, it made me want to ask them why they didn’t learn the first time. It’s a hard way to think, but I had to remind myself that, yes, though they are characters in a book, they are human. I’m certainly not perfect. However, life is too short to keep making the same mistakes over and over again. I needed them to get their heads straight. When they finally did, I was so happy!
Kissin’ Tell is a book full of serious hotness, sadness, grief, love, joy, laughter, and wild misunderstandings. Also, as the thirteenth book in the series, it gave me updates on the previous couples that I had fallen in love with and I loved every bit!
