Long Hard Ride (Rough Riders Book 1)
Long Hard Ride (Rough Riders Book 1) by Lorelei James is my first book by this author and I need more! It’s a book filled with serious hotness, angst, and humor.
One lucky woman is in for the ride of her life with three
During summer break, wannabe wild woman Channing Kinkaid is offered the chance to shed her inhibitions and horse around on the road with a real chaps-and-spurs wearing rodeo cowboy.
From the moment Colby McKay—bull rider, saddle bronc buster and calf roper—sets his lust-filled eyes on the sweet and fiery Channing, he knows she’s up to the challenge of being his personal buckle bunny. But he also demands that his rodeo traveling partners, Trevor and Edgard are allowed to join in their no-holds-barred sexcapades.
Although Channing secretly longed to be the sole focus of more than one man’s passions, all is not as it seems with the sexy trio. Colby’s demand for her complete submission behind closed doors tests her willful nature, and his sweet-talking ways burrow into her heart.
Will Colby have to break out the bullropes and piggin’ string to convince this headstrong filly that the road to true love doesn’t have to be as elusive as that championship belt buckle?
Warning: this story has tons of explicit sex, graphic language that’d make your mama blush, light bondage, ménage a trois, and—yee-haw!—hot nekkid cowboy man-love.
I really enjoyed the off=the-charts chemistry between Channing and Colby. Although I knew what kind of lifestyle Colby had prior to meeting Channing, I was still surprised at the things he allowed. It was clear how he felt about her initially and it was so much fun to see the progression of the feelings between them. There was a part that should have surprised me, but it didn’t. It actually made sense. And that one revealing scene was incredibly hot!
How many of us have an adventurous spirit? How many of us actually get the chance to live out some of our most wicked desires? How many of us get the opportunity to have our deepest needs fulfilled? Channing made me jealous and wishful. I mean, how many of us get the chance for a ménage a trois with gorgeous cowboys?
What I loved about Channing is that she was willing to break out of the mold and do what she needed to do. She impressed me, made me laugh, made me chuckle, and yes, made my heart squeeze. I wanted her to find what makes her heart and soul sing, and I’m glad she found it and didn’t fall back to what her parents wanted and set up for her.
What I loved about Colby was that he was so unapologetic about the way he lived his life. He’s young enough to do it and mature enough to handle any consequences. Let’s not forget that he is incredibly hot. His need for Channing endeared him to me. His possessiveness made me laugh and want to tell him that it was his fault things were the way they were.
This was my first Lorelei James book and it definitely won’t be my last. I couldn’t put it down and enjoyed every bit of it!
