False Start (Falling Small Duet Book 1)

False Start (Falling Small Duet Book 1) by Rebel Farris is a book that had me enthralled from the first chapter!

Sometimes bad decisions... are made for the right reasons.

I lost everything with the death of my bandmate—my privacy, my reputation, my career, and the love of my life.

I’m nothing but the living ghost of Madelaine Dobransky. Still, I’ve managed to make a new life for myself and build a successful business from the ashes. And even though my world is filled with guilt, secrets, and suspicion... it lies buried beneath the surface.

All I wanted was a tattoo. I didn't know that it would bring him—the one who watches—back into my life. Nor did I expect the tempting tattoo artist, Dexter McClellan, to lay claim on a place in my world. Dex wants to know me, to know the truth.

But I can’t let that happen. Because the truth is buried for a reason.

The truth will destroy me.

Ceej’s Review:

False Start is a book that had me enthralled from the first chapter.  I resented every single interruption, including sleep, work, even Facebook!  It’s a story filled with twists and turns, pain and sorrow, lust and love, terror and fear, and comfort and love.

Madelaine is a woman who bears so much more than she should.  More than anyone should.  In fact, she bears more than many can even survive, yet she still fights…and I admire her.  Personally, I found a kindred spirit in her for so many reasons.  Madelaine is far from perfect and takes too much upon herself to protect others, and this is why I love her.

Dexter…holy hotness.  And holy confusion.  LOL.  Rebel!  I don’t know what to think!  Gah!  I just…I can’t!

There is so much to this book that I want to speak on, but I don't do spoilers.  What I can say?  It needs to be a movie.  Seriously.

Rebel Farris is a new-to-me author and I’ve never given a high rating to one unless I truly loved their work.  Rebel’s writing style in this book fits my thinking process so well that it just flowed.  For once, I didn’t have to go back and reread a section to understand what's going on.  I don’t know what that means other than I absolutely loved it.

False Start is truly a five-star book because I’m so incredibly hooked that I MUST KNOW what happens next!  I NEED answers!!  Rebel, you certainly know how to surprise and shock me, blow my mind, make me laugh and cuss, and lastly, you know how to make me crave more.  Gimme!
